What is the Mammotome procedure?
The Mammotome (Vacuum Assisted Breast Biopsy) is a minimally invasive procedure that removes breast lumps without surgical incision.
Unlike traditional excision, a slender needle with a side port creates vacuum suction to draw the lesion in, and a built-in rotating cutter removes it precisely.
The excised tissue is immediately retrieved for pathology, providing effective early detection and prevention of breast cancer.
Compared with open surgery, it typically results in less pain and scarring and a faster recovery, making it a preferred option for many patients.
